Top Tips for a stress free Summer

Everyone looks forward to the warmer months, but in the business world it can be a balancing act between giving your staff the time off they deserve while still giving your customers the service levels they need.

Here are our top tips to becoming a summer sensation and recharging your batteries without compromising on service!

Prepare Your Customers Let your customers know in advance when you will be away, give yourself that time to really enjoy your break.

Put Marketing on Auto-Pilot Don’t go completely dark on the marketing front so people start to wonder where you are. Pre-schedule posts, blogs and other forms to stay connected.

Set Your ‘Out of Office’ Decide how often and when you plan on checking in, what date you will be returning back to work and how you can be reached in an emergency (if at all) and detail those Summer rules in your out of office announcement.

Intelligently Handle Incoming Calls Whether you close completely or reduce your hours, let a ‘Virtual Office’ take care of the day-to-day. From voicemail to call forwarding to auto-attendants, your phone system has the capability to intelligently handle incoming calls while you are away.

Deep Blue customers can log into our Knowledge Base to find assistance with setting these facilities or contact us for more information on a tailored system for your business

30 Years of Mobile Phones!

Technology has come a long way over the last 3 decades which excites me for the future. Britain’s first mobile phone call was made thirty years ago this year! Michael Harrison, the son of former Vodafone Chairman Sir Ernest Harrison, was the first to make a call calling his father at midnight on 1 January, 1985.

Harrison made the historic call using a Transportable Vodafone VT1, which weighed around 5kg and had around 30-minutes of talk time.

Imagine having to carry 5kg in your pocket everywhere instead of the lightweight mobiles we use today! Luckily, making a call these days is a lot easier.. Phew!

Mobiles are now not only for calls and SMS messages, they are now used for Emails, Video Conferencing, VoIP calls, and things such as the “app store” have changed the was we use and think about what our mobiles can do.

What will the next thirty years bring? Who knows! One thing is for sure, mobile technology is now so firmly embedded into our business culture we will never work in the same way again.

Here’s to the next 30 years!

Severe Weather Update

Since the second week of December, Scotland, particularly the highlands and islands have experienced widespread damage from extreme weather. Telephone lines have been hit by lightning strikes in some places running at over 100 an hour with lines being hit multiple times.

As a result fault reports in Scotland have risen from an average of 1600 to 2000 reports to 7000! A UK equivalent fault report would be 83000 incidences. Openreach engineers have been deployed to restore services in these truly dreadful conditions. With severe weather also forecast to hit several other areas of the UK we will keep you updated on any impact this has on provision lead times and repair times.

Alert Network Problems

We have received country wide reports of customers experiencing problems making and receiving calls, this is a major network issue and is being worked on by the engineers.

Unfortunately there is no estimated time for repair at this moment………..so please watch this space for updates. Latest update, services are being restored gradually, but it may take the rest of the working day to be fully resolved.
